The Numbers Game: Learning to Play the Numbers Game

by: John Haysom

This chapter focuses on how our senses can deceive us by investigating the question, “Which line is longer?” Everyone was deceived! Scientists invent new instruments and are often very creative. For example, one way to measure the brightness of a lamp might be to count the number of sheets of paper through which the light can pass. The task presented in this chapter is to devise a way to measure the strength of paper. Try out a few ideas at home by selecting your best idea and making a diagram showing how it works.
