by: Marilyn K. Morey, Richard E. Satchwell, Franzie L. Loepp, Tracy Hornyak, and Jim Pilla

The National Science Foundation funded the IMaST project for three consecutive developmental cycles to design an integrated middle school curriculum. As a developmental research project, the IMaST developed 16 standards-based curriculum modules that comprise a three-year program for science, technology education, and mathematics. During each three-year developmental cycle, master teachers selected to design, write, and test the materials created a unique program to facilitate the national standards for science, technology education, and mathematics. This chapter highlights the program and specifically addresses the More Emphasis facets highlighted in the National Science Education Standards.
