I found this article to be one of the most resourceful articles that I have came across in the last couple of years. The article mirrored my current situation at my school ( first year teaching a new content at the middle school level), due to the fact that it focused on adapting your old lesson plans to new curriculum or simply discarding it and starting anew. The article referenced that it is important to work with your colleagues to identify the most effective lessons and strive to modify the ones that can be adjusted for student engagement. As any good teacher knows, you must be willing to modify your lesson plans, by looking for new resources or training to keep abreast of the most current strategies to teach your content. I also found the article very informative because it provided me with different strategies that I could utilize to make my second year of teaching at the middle school level more successful and engaging for the students. The article stated that teachers should strive to place inquiry and argumentative questioning front and center when it comes to the learning process. I believe that this is an excellent idea, because it places the ownership of learning on the students.
