Statement on the Draft Standards from NSTA Executive Director Francis Eberle:
It is clear that the time has come for common standards in science. Today’s science standards are outdated and contain far too many topics. The NRC framework can be crafted into K–12 science standards that will provide core ideas in science, cross-cutting concepts, and scientific practices that will allow teachers to explore science ideas in greater depth. We urge all stakeholders to review and provide feedback on the NRC framework and to support Achieve as it develops K–12 science standards.
NSTA is proud to be a collaborating partner with the NRC and we thank the Board on Science Education for including the work of NSTA Science Anchors in developing this science framework.
