Member Input Sought on Draft Position Statement International Science Education and NSTA
A recently revised NSTA position statement encourages and promotes international science education because it has the ability to improve the teaching and learning of science. The statement provides recommendations for teachers of science; science teacher educators; school leadership; policy makers; and science-related organizations, associations, agencies, and businesses to embrace and support international science education.
A position statement panel—made up of NSTA members who are leaders in the international science education arena—developed the statement. The NSTA Board approved it and now seeks input from members before it is adopted. Please review the new draft statement and tell us what you think. Comments must be received by Monday, April 6.

Deadline Approaches for 2010 National Conference Proposals
Don’t delay! Proposals are now being accepted online for the NSTA 2010 Philadelphia National Conference on Science Education, March 18–21, 2010. Share your teaching experience with our attendees! Visit the online submission page to submit your proposal for the Philadelphia conference. The deadline is April 15, 2009.

Be a part of Mars exploration! NASA is inviting people worldwide to vote on their favorite names for the Mars Science Laboratory mission rover. Voting takes place March 23–29, 2009, and the winning name will be announced in April/May.

NSTA Extends Conference Rate for Buy a Brick . . . Build a Legacy Program
NSTA sucessfully launched the Buy a Brick … Build a Legacy program at the national conference in New Orleans. Due to the popularity of the progam, NSTA has decided to extend the reduced conference prices for the program through the end of this week (3/29). Three options are available as part of the program for gifts of $50 (normally $75), $250 (normally $275), or $350 (normally $375).
Donors to the Buy a Brick … Build a Legacy program can choose customized text to be engraved on bricks and pavers that will be featured in prominent locations in the John Glenn Center for Science Education. Companies and other organizations can even have a logo engraved on a paver.
So if you didn't get a chance to sign up for your brick in New Orleans, visit www.nsta.org/buyabrick to participate at the conference rate. Your gift is tax deductible and will help create an important new resource for science educators everywhere.
