NSTA Offers Six Symposia in Boston Registering for the national conference in Boston, Massachusetts, March 27-30? Get the most out of your professional development dollars and add a symposium! While NASA will offer a look at 21st Century Explorers and what it will take to Map the Moon, NOAA will describe the biology and dynamics of coral ecosystems, Sally Ride Science will share ideas about integrating science careers in your classroom, the FDA will explain foodborne pathogens and how to culture bacteria in food, and the NSF, NOAA, and NASA will be celebrating the International Polar Year talking about how the changes in climate are affecting the Polar Regions of the Earth.
The NSTA Symposia are face-to-face professional development opportunities offered at NSTA Conferences on Science Education. These half day, standards-based programs, are designed to enhance educators' scientific content and pedagogical practices. Each symposium is followed by two NSTA Web Seminars and a discussion listserv, extending the interactivity between the participants and presenters for two months after the conference. Participants registering for the NASA and FDA symposia will receive a $60 stipend upon completion. For more information and to register, visit the NSTA Learning Center.
