NSTA Legislative Update: Science and Math Bills Introduced as 110th Congress Convenes

The 110th Congress officially began work last week as Democratic committee chairs announced their priorities for the coming year and several new—and not so new—bills that deal with science and math education were introduced. And on the fifth anniversary of the No Child Left Behind law President Bush says the reauthorization of the federal education law will be a priority for the Administration this year. NSTA Reaffirms Position on Laboratory Science Investigations—Member Input Sought on Updated Position Statement

A panel of experts has reviewed and updated the NSTA position statement, Laboratory Science, adopted by the NSTA Board of Directors in 1990. The new statement, now titled the Integral Role of Laboratory Science Investigations in Science Instruction, reaffirms NSTA’s position about the central role laboratory investigations play in quality science instruction at all levels.

According to guidelines, NSTA members are given an opportunity to review and comment on these important documents. NSTA encourages you to view the new draft statement and give us your input.
