The Science Times Book of Natural Disasters

NSTA Recommends

Grades 9–12

The Science Times Book of Natural Disasters is a collection of articles that appeared in the science section of the New York Times during the 1990s. As the title suggests, these articles are striking descriptions of natural disasters: volcanoes, earthquakes, storms and hurricanes, climactic catastrophe, disasters from the past, and doomsday from space. The articles do not focus on the gory details of disasters, but on scientific issues and explanations. The content and newspaper style make this reprint an interesting read.
