The Clone Factory

In this activity, students reenact the cloning process using a very simplified simulation. After completing the process, students discover which species they have cloned. They then research the risks and benefits of cloning, which they summarize in a short report.

Toothpick Chromosomes

April 2003

Using toothpicks as simple models of chromosomes can promote student understanding of genetics concepts. Helping students make the connection to Punnett squares gives them a better understanding of the process of gamete formation and fertilization. A list of genetics definitions is included.
