For Science Scope's first-ever summer issue, we are looking for articles on two topics in particular:
Teacher-to-Teacher Tips for "Getting It All Done!"
Send us your best tips, tidbits, and time savers for managing and maintaining a high-quality science classroom. Full-length articles and individual short tips needed. For example share your best strategy for:
o Doing labs with limited equipment
o Scoring/grading lab reports or notebooks for 100+ students
o Tracking student progress with content, process skills, homework completion,
etc.
o Managing the make up of missed labs
o Keeping the lab clean and orderly
o Monitoring lab safety precautions
o Informing parents about the poor performance of a student
o Providing extra help sessions
o Maintaining student focus and on-task behavior during lab activities
o Storing student lab set ups or project materials for multiple classes
o Managing any other specific science classroom task
Have I Got a Book (or Article) for You!
Read any outstanding books or articles (nonfiction, science) lately? Give us
your recommendation for a summer "must read." Write a short review
of the book or article, including what makes it so special that other middle
level teachers would want to read it. Explain any classroom applications. Be
sure to give all publisher information needed to locate it.
