INTERNET USE IN THE
CLASSROOM
Teachers can use technology to teach science concepts, assess students'
learning, or meet the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act.
Teaching and technology go hand-in-hand for some educators. Not
all classrooms, however, are created equal. Although some schools
have elaborate plans to equip their students with laptops or wireless
devices this fall, others will struggle to find the financial resources
to integrate technological tools into the classroom.
Because we know that anyone reading Science Class has some
access to the Internet, we used this issue to point you toward several
resourcesSciLinks, news stories, books, and journal articlesto
determine how to implement technology into your classroom. Read
on to see what tools will work best for you!
SciLinks
Boosts Your Curriculum
For time-pressed teachers, the vastness of the Internet is as much
a problem as it is an asset. SciLinks exists to cut the Internet
down to size. SciLinks is a
web-based service from NSTA that provides online content chosen
for selected keywords. Readers of Science Class have linked
to SciLinks materials from the very first issue, but do you know
how these materials are selected, how one can access the targeted
web pages, or whoother than readers of Science Classcan
access the content?
