Call for Papers
Science Scope is looking for manuscripts for the 2003-2004 publishing
year on a wide variety of science education topics. Possible themes for the
upcoming publishing year include:
o On the Lighter Side: How do you use graphics, drawings, cartoons, games, songs, poems, toys, and other humorous devices to grab your students' attention and teach science concepts?
o Not Without These!: Focus on the processes vital to our survival, such as photosynthesis, weather, circulation in the ocean/atmosphere, decomposition, the water cycle, and air/water quality.
o What's On Your Plate?: Send us your favorite recipes for using food in the classroom. Ideas could include food chemistry, preservation, nutrition/diet, digestion, agriculture, and genetically engineered crops.
o Science Fairs: How do you organize and manage your science fairs? Have any tips for maximizing student participation, using an alternative fair format, or novel ways of presenting student work?
o Assessment Strategies: How are you assessing students involved in inquiry? What methods lead to improved test scores? How do you tie into state and national standards?
o Professional Development: Share your experiences with committee work, national certification, summer programs, grants, conferences, and other teacher enhancement opportunities.
o All About Me: Articles about the human body, diseases, medical conditions, disabilities, illnesses, and other health science topics.
o Science in the Center: Integrating science with other subject areas for interdisciplinary units.
Got an idea that doesn't fit a theme? Send it in. Our issues are a blend of
thematic and general material, so we need articles on all topics. With the new
online submission system available at http://authors.nsta.org,
getting your manuscript to us is simple. We look forward to hearing from you!
