The National Science Teachers Association is seeking candidates to become the Field Editor for the Journal of College Science Teaching.
The Field Editor's responsibilities include:
o Helping NSTA staff identify essential topics for our college education journal;
o Soliciting articles on these topics from a genuinely diverse mix of engaged
educators and columnists; and
o Recruiting participants to review articles for research value, safety, scientific
accuracy, and classroom usefulness.
The Field Editor has ultimate responsibility for the journal's content and therefore must aim high to illustrate best practices while including the pedagogy and everyday activities most likely to achieve our goal of "...excellence and innovation in science teaching and learning for all."
The ideal candidate is a smart, articulate, and effective educator and team player-who knows (or can easily connect with) others in the academic arena. In particular, the successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
o Experience teaching science at the college level;
o Insight into enduring objectives and current trends in science education;
o Ability to network in search of suitable content for the journal; and
o Ability to communicate effectively with authors as well as with NSTA members,
committees, board of directors, and staff.

This is a part-time, 3-year appointment, renewable for one additional term. Modest travel required (fewer than six trips per year). Generous stipend and training provided.
