Ecosystem Explorations

Ecosystems Explorations includes 11 lessons that are divided into two sections. In "Understanding Ecosystems," fifth-grade students learn basic concepts including parts of an ecosystem and the energy flow. "Human Connections to Ecosystems" illustrates how peoples' lives connect to ecosystems.

Leadership Grows in the Schoolyard

October 1997

Fifth-grade students become leaders in a schoolwide ecosystem project and gain positive attitudes toward the environment. A visit from a local environmental activist helped students become aware of accelerated rates of extinction worldwide.
